Midcoast Maine | @kellymoeykensstudio
In constructing the surfaces of her paper sculpture works, Kelly Moeykens uses a collage method in which many flower shapes are hand-cut from recycled paper, then layered with paint, folded with tweezers and then layered atop another. Kelly successfully combines a traditional sensibility with her unique vision and personal narrative. Her works explore the complex relationship between color and texture through a labor intensive, time-consuming process.
Kelly’s works are driven by process and she is drawn to the tactile experience of it all; there is a physical aspect to interacting with her work that she wants to convey with each piece.
Kelly lives and works in Midcoast Maine.
