Jessica McCambly

Originally from Massachusetts, Jessica McCambly lives and works in San Diego, CA. She earned an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas, College of Visual Arts and Design. Additionally, she is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of good good things, a transitory curatorial project based in San Diego, CA.

McCambly's work has been featured both nationally and internationally at institutions and galleries such as Scott White Contemporary Art, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, Dunn and Brown, The Dallas Contemporary, Holly Johnson Gallery, 500X, Helmuth Projects, The New Children’s Museum and Quint Contemporary. Her work was chosen for inclusion in the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's exhibition Here Not There: San Diego Art Now and was also selected by Janet Bishop, Curator of Painting and Sculpture at SFMOMA, to participate in New American Paintings: Juried Exhibitions-in-Print- No. 109, Pacific Coast Issue. Most recently, McCambly's work was included in Women and Abstraction at the Cornell Museum of Fine Arts, curated by Amy Galpin, Ph.D. McCambly is represented by Scott White Contemporary Art in San Diego, CA and Kenise Barnes Fine Art in Larchmont, NY.


I am interested in the potential for beauty, emotion, and nuance within an aesthetically minimal context.

Formal simplicity can evoke complexity and intimacy in experience.

I want the work to look like nothing, and then everything.
